Please save the Merc. Keep the kit and wheels on the car. Replace the quarter panels and get rid of all the rust, then repaint. You could make videos on rust repair, paint, interior repainting the faded materials, steam cleaning etc.

I didn't see you check the engine oil or coolant! Did you vacuum all those pine needles etc from the engine bay before fiddling around? These should always be the first actions in this situation.

The reason that there’s so many parts available is because so many are stolen for parts.

My first car in the early 80s was a mk10 jaguar. She was an old tank but I loved driving it. Triple su cards all polished up along with other parts of the engine looked good. Some of that engine is not mk10. They are more like xj6. Good luck anyway!😊

Happy for this guy. Very glad he is able to go full time on his passion. Like many others who have 'made it', it's very much a full time effort.

I mean, it probably just has the AMG Sport Package but not Full AMG. Sometimes they'll also upgrade the rotors to cross drilled like they did on mine. But its also 2011.

If the engine had a tune put on it that included a high octane fuel but was only ran on your finest Circle K. As it causes a uneven burn usually local to place and causes an over heat and melts the liner and casting.

I had a 405 pick up 25 years ago ... same colour but insurance companies said they could not find it on list i think it was chop car front with pick up back on ..been done right so still insured it had on good few job.😊 ent me good bit money back in day din.t have any rust on it😊ps ..love joy on TV had one😊

The w124 series was one of the best models built by Daimler Benz. I'd keep it....restored it'll be worth a few pence in the future...

That motor has ribbed cam covers, I believe those were fitted from 1968? So is it the original motor with new cam covers, or is it a later motor? 🤔

I go to junkyard sometimes and take the OVP relays out these types.clean them up and make a buck.

Back in the sixties my stepfather owned a 1964 Zephyr 4 which was apparently an ex police plain clothes patrol vehicle, it was the only one I ever saw that had factory fitted four speed floor change with a backwards curved chromed gear lever that was almost horizontal at the top four inches and a bench front seat with a small semi circular recess in the middle of it to select 2nd 4th and reverse without snagging the seat, every other zephyr/zodiac mk3 I ever saw had a coloum lever in both manual or automatic with or without optional front bench seat which didnt contain that cut out in either version. If only you could roll the clock back and grab a car and hide it away for future posterity ! although as a fourteen year old petrol head at the time I was more than pleased when he traded it in for a newer Corsair 2000 E. The stupid part for me is, though I have had hundreds of my own vehicles during my 50 year driving career - THAT car and the Corsair are the only one's I can still remember the registration of instantly .

Always go for the low hanging fruit. :) This wasn't supposed to be ecomically viable anyways ... but still considering equivalent cars new prices... pain got its perks .

I've had two cars with a KE-Jetronic. If the cold start injector is broken, you can still get the engine to run if your battery is strong enough. It just takes some time. Apart from that cold start injector, the KE never failed me :). My first car ran 300.000km and apart from the cold start thing, the KE-Jetronic wasn't touched. It just worked. Summer, Winter, it doesn't care. I've had two M103 :). Nice sound when revving high, decent power, but treat it well. I destroyed two of them :D. The M103 has a good reputation, so it must be me, but I'm not sure. Somehow Merc owners tell you everything is rock solid when it sometimes isn't :P. Regards

If you have burned clutch material, your transmission needs a rebuild. It's that simple.

Man congratulations on the new workshop. Now the important bit. You should be finishing the Merc off! What was the whole point in getting the workshop lol? It looks good as it is now, imagine how it would be finished and you don't have to absolutely blow the budget. Try and keep it as original as it is now. Would definitely sell all day long and I am sure it would make plenty of content for you, learn new techniques along the way and you never know who you'll meet also. Then raffling it also is another idea. I'm sure there's plenty of us over 40's out there would love to win a car like that.
